The wedding of 2026 is a far cry from what it once was. For many couples, the celebration of marriage has become a fully considered, multi-sensory experience. We're not exaggerating! Every gorgeous detail is chosen with intention. Some seek out bespoke scents for their ceremony, spend hours refining the visual brand of their stationery suite, and think very carefully about the overall flow and the feeling of the day; from the first guest's arrival to the last song of the night. Not every couple goes to these lengths, nor should they. But many today are thinking about their wedding in a way previous generations simply didn't. With wedding stationery taking a front seat in the development of the 'wedding experience', we take a good look at just why this is happening, and is if it's actually worth it!
The case for spending money on wedding stationery
Wedding stationery used to be simple. Pick a template (or make something yourself), add names, drop invitations in the mail. That was more or less the whole story.
But today, couples are putting real thought and real budget into paper goods (one of the main changes actually being that it's not only about wedding invitations and thank you cards anymore!). The industry has grown to reflect this, too.
Business Insider shares that the global wedding stationery market reached roughly USD 0.88 billion in 2024 and is projected to nearly double by 2035. One thing is clear, couples now give a pretty big role to their stationery. In fact, for couples who really want to go all out, the sky is the limit. According to stationery designer Le'Trice Penn of Lepenn Designs, a full custom suite with specialty printing like foil stamping, letterpress and embossing can range from $6,000 to $8,000 and beyond.
Similarly, at Peppermint Press, we have witnessed first-hand just how much wedding stationery is playing a part in the overall experience of a wedding day. Our customers are absolutely set on creating stories and brands which weave throughout their special days. And it all starts months in advance.
An invitation lands on your guests' doorstep, and before a single cocktail has been consumed or a cake has been cut, they have a taste of exactly what kind of wedding this is going to be. Plus, what with the weight of the paper, the texture, the typography, the colours, the theme... all of it says something.
As a premium wedding stationery provider, we've worked with countless couples to help them bring their weddings to life with premium stationery, designed by experts. So, in this article, we share our thoughts on why you should even spend money on wedding stationery in the first place, and what exactly the investment gets you in 2026.

What does wedding stationery actually include?
If you haven't planned a wedding recently, you might be surprised by just how much falls under the umbrella of wedding stationery in 2026. Essentially, it covers every printed or paper element of your wedding, from the very first save the date that reaches your guest, through to the thank you cards you send after the honeymoon. But there's a whole lot that comes in between too.

The wedding brand
So with a long list of wedding stationery in hand, you still might be wondering, why do I need all this, and is it really worth it? And to that, we begin with the argument of the wedding brand.
As we've already mentioned, in 2026, weddings are more than a celebration. In fact, they've become a lesson in branding and storytelling, and in many cases a full sensory experience. Long before your guests arrive at the venue you've carefully selected, they have already formed an impression of your wedding from the save the date and invitation suite they've received. Before the wedding, it's all about introducing your story and building anticipation.
This is why you'll see premium wedding stationery companies working so hard on the aesthetics and visual uniqueness of your stationery. Ultimately, your signage, menus and ceremony booklets are no longer formalities, but contribute greatly towards the visual identity of your wedding.
Just as a brand has a consistent look and feel across every single touchpoint, your stationery carries your wedding's aesthetic. And when every piece feels perfectly considered and cohesive, it tells a story, and your guests feel that!

The practical stuff
All branding and storytelling aside, there is no doubt that wedding stationery is also just really practical. Especially when it is designed clearly and beautifully, stationery serves a very clear purpose (depending on the piece).
Guests need to know where to sit, what they are eating, where the ceremony is taking place and how the day will flow from one space to the next. Given that it is created with love and purpose and a bit of knowledge too (for example, how big the signage should be), your stationery handles all of that seamlessly and without anyone having to ask a thing.
"Where's the Photo Booth? Where do I put my gifts? What cocktails are available?"... are all questions that can be answered visually and in style.
The emotional argument
The wedding itself lasts a day, but the stationery lasts much longer. For example, you may have noticed that people keep beautiful wedding invitations, holding onto them for years. And that says something about how important your wedding stationery truly is emotionally.
The experience of opening a well-crafted invitation suite is genuinely special; perhaps peeling back a personalised wax seal, sliding out a card printed on thick, weighty stock, feeling the texture of a letterpress impression under your fingertips. These small sensory details tell your guest that thought was put into every detail.
Undoubtedly, that emotional resonance (especially for your closest friends and family) carries through to the day too! Why can't your ceremony booklet double as a keepsake and a menu card be beautiful enough to treasure forever? These are the details that guests notice and remember long after the flowers have wilted or the cake has been eaten.

The expert angle
The couples who love their stationery are almost always the ones who worked with a friendly and professional team. Because contrary to the rumours, when you invest in wedding stationery, you are not just buying paper! Instead, you're actually paying for someone's expertise and their ability to take what is in your head and turn it into something beautiful on the page. That is a very different thing to downloading a template.
At Peppermint Press, the whole experience is designed to feel simple and customised. It's all about taking the stress away! Customers work with one dedicated designer from start to finish, and they get to know your vision, your colours and your story.
After placing your order you fill out a questionnaire and your designer delivers a first proof within three business days. From there it is just a matter of feedback and refining until everything is ready for printing! All the tricky decisions around paper weights, print methods, colour palettes and finishing touches? Handled for you!
A great stationer sends you away with something that looks like it was made for you. (Because it was!).

Should I spend money on wedding stationery? The verdict
Yes! Great stationery sets the tone before your guests arrive and seamlessly carries your wedding and its identity through every touchpoint on the day. It leaves people with something they actually want to keep, whilst literally pointing people in the right direction. When it is done well, it is genuinely special.
That said, it is not for everyone, and that is completely fine. Some couples love a DIY project and have the creativity and time to pull off something great.
But if you love the idea of having an expert in your corner and someone to guide you through the decisions, delivering something premium that reflects who you are as a couple, then investing in professional wedding stationery is probably a good shout for you.
