Do I need to order wedding invitation samples? The answer is - we believe - yes! Ordering wedding invitation and stationery samples can help you to choose a high-quality and well-matched vendor for your big day. Although some companies might appear ideal from the photos they share online, only when a sample is in your hands can you really begin to feel the quality, the printing and the attention to detail used. In this article, we cover what wedding invitation samples are and why you should order them before committing to a large order.

What is a wedding invitation sample?

Let's get right to it. In the context of wedding planning, a wedding invitation sample refers to a physical representation of a potential wedding invitation. It's as simple as that.

Many wedding stationery companies today will sell sample packs or designs to their potential clients. In doing so, they are able to share with a client the quality of their products, as well as present a range of colour samples, printing methods, designs and more.

By reviewing these samples, engaged couples can make better informed decisions about the company they choose to trust with their wedding stationery. Plus, they can assure that their final designs align with their vision and that there are no unpleasant surprises.

Reasons to order a wedding invitation sample

From getting a feel for card quality and printing methods to finalising designs and fonts, in this article we take a look at the why people are choosing to order wedding invitation samples.

1. To assess the print quality of your wedding invitations

When you order samples for your wedding invitations, you gift yourself the time you need in order to assess the quality of various companies' products. With various samples in front of you, you'll be able to accurately compare and analyse invitations.

The printing of your cards is a one highly important aspect of your invitations. When you order samples, not only will you be able to understand how crisp and clean the printing is, but you'll also be able to get a feel for the different kinds that are available.

2. To check out the card quality of the invites

Card quality is super important when considering your wedding invitations. When analysing the card received by different companies, pay attention to the paper weight and how luxurious it feels between your fingers. There's nothing better than a thick, premium card for your invitations, so don't order impulsively online or settle for something less.

If you're hopeful that your invitations should be sustainably made, you may also want to take a look at whether the company uses sustainable card.

3. To confirm your design elements

By ordering wedding invitation samples, you get to see a number of different fonts, design elements, colours and layouts. As a result, you'll then get to know what kind of styles you like. Because at the end of the day, you never truly know what you like until you see it in your hands!

By ordering a sample, you'll ensure that the final product will be exactly what you want, without any surprises or discrepancies.

4. To get a feel for the product

When ordering something online, whether it's a t-shirt or a wedding invite, there's always that indescribable something that signals whether it's right for you or not. Just as you can order an item of clothing and somehow it doesn't sit right, wedding invitations can either be in your style and preferred quality, or not.

By holding the card product in your hand, you'll be able to grasp what is right for you and your invitations.

5. To find out which company you like best

Ultimately, if you're hoping to work with one company for your wedding invitations and wedding stationery, you'll want to choose the one which serves you best. Not only taking into account design, it's always great to see the presentation of the products you receive when ordering a sample. Meanwhile, the service you are greeted with is also key.

When you order a sample, you'll get a grasp for the quality of the company and their products based on your ordering process and any interactions you have with the company. Did they answer your queries well? How were the products sent to you?

By ordering samples, you'll get a feel for the company you choose, not only the products.

What to do once you've seen the sample pack

If you receive your wedding invitation sample pack and you'd like to move forwards by placing an order, there are a few things to take into account.

Save the dates and invitations

When it comes to save the dates and wedding invitations, it's crucial to plan ahead. We recommend ordering these 2 to 3 weeks before you plan to send them out.

This will give you ample time to review and make any necessary adjustments before they make their grand debut. Sending your wedding invitations at least three months prior to your event ensures that your guests have plenty of notice and can mark their calendars. To make sure you receive timely RSVPs, it's best to set the RSVP date at least six weeks before the big day.

This gives you enough time to finalise your guest list and prepare other on-the-day stationery, such as seating charts and place cards. If you opt for letterpress or foil printing, remember to allow some extra time for these special touches.

On the day items

Ordering your on-the-day items, such as menus, programs, and signage, 5 to 6 weeks before your event is ideal. This gives you enough time to ensure everything is perfect and ready to impress your guests.

Keep in mind that all on-the-day orders must be approved for production at least three weeks before you actually need them. This allows our team to work their magic and ensure your items are crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail.

By following these timelines and allowing ample time for production, you'll have peace of mind knowing that your stationery is in good hands and will be ready to shine on your special day.
