What are wedding save the date cards?

Wedding save the date cards are pre-invitation notifications sent to guests to inform them of the upcoming wedding date. In sending save the dates, you can ensure that your valued guests can reserve the date on their calendars and increase the likelihood that they can attend. Save the dates also act as a preliminary announcement, especially for guests who may need to make travel arrangements.
Are ‘save the dates’ necessary?

Although not everyone chooses to send save the dates, they do come highly recommended. Can I create custom save the date cards?

When you select Peppermint Press for your save the date cards, you unlock the artistic freedom to create something unique for you as a couple. With a dedicated designer guiding your entire journey, you are given the opportunity to tailor the colors, shape, and wording of your save the dates. While a white envelope is included, the choice is yours to embrace a colored envelope or indulge in the luxury of printed envelopes at an extra cost. 

Please note that whilst we are determined to create a truly bespoke experience that reflects your unique vision, we will also provide advice and guidelines which will help to improve the quality of your save the dates.

How are the save the date cards printed?

Our save the dates are printed onto 300-350GSM card stock depending on the colour of the stock chosen, in either black, colour or white ink. Our digitally printed designs have sharp, vivid colors and crisp lines, with a smooth finish to the print that gives a professional look and feel.

300 - 350GSM card stock is a heavy-weight card stock that provides a luxurious and substantial feel, which is perfect for formal occasions like weddings, save the dates and wedding announcement cards. It has a thickness that is over three times that of standard printing paper, giving the save the dates a premium look and rigid feel.
How long will my order take?

Our order process takes around 3 weeks for save the date cards, plus shipping. As there are less details on the save the date compared to a wedding invitation the consultation process is typically faster, and as our save the dates are digitally printed, production takes up to two weeks.
When should I send out wedding save the date cards?

Save the dates are dispatched to your guests up to 12 months prior to your wedding. For destination weddings, it is acceptable to send them more than a year ahead of the date, to ensure that your guests can attend and make plans accordingly. 
What wording is included in a save the date card?

Your save the dates should include the following information:

  • Save the date: A prominent header that states the purpose of the card.
  • Couple names: The full names of the engaged couple to personalise the card.
  • Wedding date: The date of the wedding.
  • Brief announcement: A short sentence to convey the excitement of the upcoming wedding.
  • Formal invitation to follow: Mention that a formal invitation will be sent at a later date.
